Abstract

This paper explores the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies in enhancing human resource performance within contemporary organisations, with a particular focus on Nigeria. Using a qualitative approach based on secondary data from scholarly publications, industry reports, and digital knowledge databases, the study examines the evolution of AI technologies and their application in recruitment, selection, performance evaluation, and employee development. Findings indicate that AI technologies have significantly reshaped organisational operations, enabling data-driven decision-making and improved efficiency. AI technologies such as machine learning, cloud computing, predictive analytics, and robotic process automation were integrated into Nigeria Human Resource Management (HRM) practices. Despite the potential benefits, the study identifies major challenges hindering effective AI technologies adoption in Nigeria, including weak digital infrastructure, high implementation costs, limited technical competence among HR professionals, poor data governance, employee resistance, ethical concerns, and inadequate regulatory frameworks. The paper concludes that AI technologies can substantially transform organisational productivity and HRM practice if implemented strategically and ethically. It recommends investment in digital infrastructure, capacity building, regulatory strengthening, and the development of locally adaptable AI solutions to support sustainable organisational growth in Nigeria.
